About

Two kinds of standing to tell this story.

E. Emerson Jones writes at the seam where mathematics, history, and the American story meet. His work recovers the overlooked architects of the modern world — and he comes to it by blood and by profession.

His great-grandfather, a founder and dean of Southern University, gave David Blackwell his first academic post in 1942, when white institutions would not. Blackwell's story runs directly through his own family.

He writes it, too, from inside the industry that revived Blackwell's name: a General Manager at Amazon Web Services, where he leads the organization serving the companies building the AI era. Few can speak to both the human story and the technology it now underpins.
